Rose Hill Westonbirt Pupils Make Sweet Music

Making MusicRose Hill Westonbirt pupils got into the swing of things at last night's 'Making Music' concert, performed in the Orangery theatre of Westonbirt School.

Under the direction of our inspirational Head of Music, Mrs Shirley Jee, pupils from Reception up to Year 6 took to the stage. The Junior Choir gave a dramatic performance of songs from 'Crikey Moses' by Sheila Wilson and the Infant Choir delighted the audience with an enthusiastic rendition of "Down in the Jungle" and "Tiger Tango".

The Recorder Ensemble performed Espana (Chabrier arr Terry Cathrine) and soloists included Siobhan Cran (flute) Emma McCraith (saxophone) and Ella Morrison (piano) who all gave superb performances.

Music is a highly valued, popular subject at Rose Hill Westonbirt and plays a key part in the life of the school. All pupils have 2 periods of music per week and many children have additional individual instrumental tuition. As well as participating in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with the Senior School, the Prep School is looking forward to its own Summer musical production "Scheherazade" by Nick Perrin on Wednesday 29th June (2:30pm) and Thursday 30th June (5:30pm). Please contact the school on 01666 881400 for further information and tickets.

The pupils also take part in the Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts and are hoping to build on last year's success when they won first place with the Recorder Group, Recorder Duets, Recorder Trios and Recorder Solos, as well as a distinction for the 11 years and under Choir. We wish them the best of luck !
