Pupils celebrate Maths Challenge Success
Four pupils from Rose Hill Westonbirt School attended the DCBeagle Year 6 Mathematics Challenge at Cheltenham College Junior School on Monday, March 7th. Talented Mathematicians Alex Shaw, Lucy Scruton (Year 6), and Emma Hatherall and Matilda Hall (Year 5), represented Rose Hill Westonbirt, competing against pupils from over 20 other preparatory and primary schools from the South West.
The challenge consisted of various mathematical puzzles, including a 'Countdown' style activity. Pupils were kept on their toes during the fast paced and lively competition - hoping to secure a place as a winning team. Headmaster of Rose Hill Westonbirt, Mr Neil Shaw, was also put through his paces acting as a marker for the event!
Alex, Lucy, Emma and Matilda thoroughly enjoyed the day and represented the school extremely well. Congratulations to Year 5 pupils Emma and Matilda, who came third in the Challenge despite being a year younger than the other competitors! Their score bodes very well for their ranking in next year's Challenge.
