Year One had a wonderful time at Butterfly World before half term. Below is an account of their day, along with some photographs.

"The day started with a tour around the butterfly farm. There were beautiful butterflies everywhere! They were landing on our heads and hands. Mrs Langer even had three on her at one point!

When the butterflies were eating the fruit using their proboscis, we could slide our fingers underneath and carefully pick them up. We saw all of the stages of the life cycle: there were caterpillars, chrysalides and butterflies. We even saw a butterfly that had just hatched and was pumping blood into its wings to harden them up.

Next we were off to the reptile centre where we all had the chance to put a snake around our shoulders!

We then went to the farm area where we saw feeding time for otters and meerkats and we actually fed the goats ourselves. We all held a guinea pig and stroked a big rabbit - when it was eventually caught! We told some pigs to sit and raced against a turkey!

We rounded the day off with some great playing together - what a lovely day out!"
