A message from the Headmaster

A top UK preparatory school

These are exciting times for Rose Hill Westonbirt School having evolved from the union of Querns and Rose Hill (Querns Westonbirt School and Rose Hill School). Our strong roots have enabled us to branch out and flourish into a school tailored to today’s needs. We are transforming and building up our resources to ensure that we have strength in all areas and continue to deliver an exceptional educational experience.

What makes a good preparatory school?

I firmly believe that what makes us stand out as a good preparatory school is our commitment to children's broader personal development as well as proper preparation for senior independent, secondary and public schools. We foster a strong family and Christian ethos throughout the school. This combination of care and overriding sense of community  creates a happy, secure and stimulating environment in which our boys and girls thrive.

The emphasis of the staff is on achieving the highest academic standards whilst encouraging participation in a full programme of sport and creative activities such as art, drama, and music.

Our unrivalled location means we can offer a huge variety of extra-curricular options in which both team and individual can shine: art, craft, science, tennis, hockey, football, rugby, cricket, computers, nature, chess, challenge club, ballet, judo, golf, tae kwon do, swimming, cookery, singing, music, dance, drama, horse riding, life skills, photography, gardening and personal survival.

The school’s idyllic setting in 210 acres of beautiful rural park and woodland (shared with Westonbirt School) allows pupils the freedom to play and explore in a safe and natural environment, further developing imagination and confidence.

We welcome children of all abilities and potential, making particular provision for those who need additional learning support or who are especially gifted. Whatever their aptitudes, talents and strengths we aim to ensure that all our pupils have the opportunity to cultivate their individual interests.

How to compare and rank the best private and public schools?

Children should enjoy learning. We know our results are on a par with the best prep schools and we also do well in national rankings and assessments generally. By the time our pupils leave Rose Hill Westonbirt School at 11+ or 13+, after sitting SATs then entrance or scholarship exams or Common Entrance exams, they have acquired an excellent educational foundation and are happy, accomplished and caring persons motivated to make the best of their prospects wherever they go.

That’s why I confidently commend Rose Hill Westonbirt as the best private school for you.
