Rose Hill Westonbirt School history and background

The best private preparatory schools

Rose Hill Westonbirt School has been created from the union of two much loved and respected Gloucestershire prep schools: Querns Westonbirt and Rose Hill.

Celebrating between them over 200 years of educating our young, 'Their inherited legacies boast a proud history, show a bright and stimulating present and point to an optimistic and great future.' (Neil Shaw, January 2009.)

Rose Hill Westonbirt school is a private independent coeducational day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 13 (from nursery to Year 8) which will be a full member of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS).

We offer 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance exams enabling pupils to enter their first choice school, whether it is a leading senior independent, public, grammar or state secondary.

The school shares a single, enhanced campus at Westonbirt (on the same site as the independent boarding and day school, Westonbirt School) set in 210 acres of parkland, with access to extensive facilities: art rooms, computer rooms, a £3m sports centre with 25 metre swimming pool, theatre, music school, science laboratories and design technology workshops with many more new resources being planned and developed.

The school currently has over 120 pupils, drawn from a catchment area spanning Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and north Bristol. Children attend the school from many local towns and surrounding villages including Tetbury, Chippenham, Wootton-under-Edge, Cirencester, Stroud, Nailsworth, Malmesbury, Sherston, Thornbury, Dursley and Chipping Sodbury. The daily school bus service operates a regular service to most of these conurbations.
