Preparatory

Key Stage 2 & Key Stage 3

Juniors (Years 3, 4 and 5)

Small classes are still taught predominantly by one teacher supported by well-qualified teaching assistants. Specialist teachers also instruct at this stage to suit the more subject-based curriculum. Different forms of testing are undertaken (including SATs) to assess ability and progress. Older children are given more responsibility and those aiming to leave immediately after Year 6 are prepared for 11+ Entrance exams and scholarships.

Seniors (Years 6, 7 and 8)

From Year 6 onwards children have complete subject-based teaching in different areas of the school. They become much more independent and as a result adopt organised working habits and study skills. Pupils follow the Common Entrance exam curriculum and personal scholarship mentoring is introduced. Academic success is evident from our outstanding Common Entrance results and the range of scholarships offered for public, grammar and secondary schools.
